baaa. snagged from everyone and your mom.

Most of you on my flist don't really know my original characters personally. Small wonder, I don't really write much for them beyond RPing, though I really should. To remedy this to some small degree and give you a small introduction to the madness, I propose this:

Give me a bit of inspiration. A picture, a poem, a summary of a story, some words you'd like it themed on, etc. I'll write for the character you specify or the character I want to write for. It doesn't matter. No word limit, no nothing. I'll also include a bit of backstory if it's needed, or even link you to their 20 facts post, if they have one.

All my characters are listed here, I'd rather my originals got the prompts, but you're free to attack my fandom characters too, if you wish. XD

EDIT; made it public because I'm a whore for comments.

There was this game that Oliver liked to play. It was called 'see-how-annoyed-you-can-get-the-wife-without-getting-beat.'

Most of the time, he failed, because Skuld would either laugh at him and walk away, or swat him over the head with whatever happened to be in her hand at the time (More often than not, these days, it was a bottle or a diaper, which was unfortunate.)

A lot of the time, he'd be surfing the internet, and, being a guy, would poke curiously into lingerie sites. Then he would promptly point out things he thought Skuld would look hot in.

The page he currently had open showed a pair of rather tight hot pink hotpants.

"Hey, Kitty!" He called over his shoulder, grinning a little and leaning back in his chair. The twins were in the other room, watching that stupid cartoon that was the only thing that'd get them to fall asleep, so he knew there was no danger in either one toddling their way in.

Skuld appeared a moment later, caught a glimpse of what was on the computer screen, rolled her eyes, and walked back out of the room.

Oliver threw his arms up in victory, and promptly lost his balance, crashing backwards to the floor.

Ria smiled, that smile that sort of took up all her face and made her glow. She was happy, with the people she had grown to love. February, 1999. The year the world would end. And there they were, sitting around their favorite ice cream place in jackets and sweaters and boots and freezing cold while the snow poured into the New York Streets outside, but it didn't matter. They were all here together, and it was happy. They'd lost a few of their number, but it still was a long way off. It was still just a game.

"We must be crazy, ordering ice cream on a day like today." Ria beamed as she was handed her strawberry ice cream with rainbow sprinkles, before looking at the other Seals. Everyone was happy, everyone was cold, but they didn't care because this was just their place, and it was a happy time for them.

Eventually, that melted away.

The end of November found snow on the ground again, but it was mixed with ash, dirty black and covered everything, even Ria, making her hair fall limply around her shoulders. She wasn't smiling now. She was freezing and alone, standing at the edge of what used to be New York. She stared across the horizon, wondering how it had come to this.

How she was the only one left. It wasn't fair. Eight months ago things had seemed like they'd never be this way. They'd been unstoppable, and a family. There'd been hope and fun and snowball fights in the stuff falling from the sky.

Now it just reminded her of every single person she'd never see again, and in that dirty ash-soaked snow she fell to her knees, crying for the people who should be here next to her.

James always loved the holidays. Any time of year where they saw as much family as humanly possible squeezed into their home in Oslo. There was always a lot of food, and a lot of drinking, and a lot of laughing and noise in general. When you had Scot and Norwegian relatives, there just was a lot of noise at all times.

James was never a noisy type of guy, but he loved listening to it. His father telling stories about short Uncle Jack and Aunt Marcella showing off the latest of whatever project she happened to be working on this year.

Then there was always the presents, which had always been a war in the family. Some years they'd open them all Christmas Eve, others Christmas morning, the parents could never come to an agreement over that. Eventually there was a half-and-half rule put into place, but really, how the hell do you measure presents half and half?

Christmas tended to not end until hours after dawn on the 26th broke, with people passed out in the living room and in places where they don't belong, and James would have to figure out which limbs belonged to his sister and drag her up to her room, before going into his own, and falling face first into the mattress, hoping that the next Christmas stays 365 days away.

Morning could probably be considered one of Kenneth's favorite times of the day. It was the time when the rest of his family was already up and out of the house, gone to set up for their daily work, and he was alone, preparing to leave for school. He'd eat alone, sitting in the living room, wearing the old tattered sweatpants his mother kept trying to throw out and his favorite sweatshirt, and he'd watch the news.

It was a quiet time of day, and Kenneth liked the quiet. He found it peaceful, and relaxing, and it helped him prepare for the rest of the day, which would be filled with noise.

Leila

Jealousy wasn't something Leila had ever taught to feel. It just sort of happened, which she supposed was natural. What wasn't natural is how she dealt with it. She'd read a few magazines that said it was harmful to keep jealous feelings locked up, to ignore them, to pretend they weren't there, but that's how she dealt with things she didn't want. She pretended they simply didn't exist. A passing feeling of desire, maybe rage, maybe depression. She let it go, because she didn't want it there. She didn't want it a part of her, so she locked it away, and pretended it didn't exist.

Jealousy made it hard. Because she had to pretend every time she saw Matthews and Lincoln being annoyingly public on set, that a part of her didn't hate them both for having something she'd never even been able to take a step towards.

She couldn't sleep. She was naked, her back pressed up against Hayden's chest because that was the only way she was ever warm, and she could hear him breathing in her ear. It was likely he was the reason she couldn't fall asleep, but there were other reasons too, there always had been, for her insomnia. Thinking too much about things tended to do that.

The room was pitch black, which was something she'd had to master to accomplish, considering there was a street light right outside her window. Her eyes drifted to where she knew it to be, remembering the day she'd put up the heavy black curtains and considered it a success. Then she remembered when she was tiny, back home in Osaka, and she'd been afraid to go to sleep without a light. Her mother had bought her a Hello Kitty nightlight, because Hello Kitty was her favorite, and had plugged it in right next to her bed.

That was one of the few happy memories Haruka had of her mother. She closed her eyes, feeling strangely emotional, before twisting around in the bed so she was face to face with her bedmate, although he didn't really move much. She liked that about him. She could shift against him all she wanted while he was asleep, and he wouldn't budge. Since she was a restless sleeper, that was a good quality for whoever she was sharing a bed with to have.

Gradually, she concentrated energy into her fingers, just enough for her hand to glow softly and illuminate the few inches of space the two of them occupied. Her eyes always easily adjusted to the light, but she supposed that was just part of her ability. She glanced at her watch, before reaching out to touch Hayden's face, her hand still illuminated. She didn't expect him to reach up and take hold of her hand, still seemingly asleep and pull it under the blanket, the light becoming muffled by the covers, and then she let it go out, laughing a little. Maybe he wasn't as heavy a sleeper as she'd thought.

Mary didn't measure her family in the people whose blood ran through her veins. She measured her family in the people who she had grown up knowing, the people who hugged her when she fell down and scraped her knee when she was six, the people who were at her first concert, screaming from the front row.

Mary counts herself lucky to have such a big family. Still, there's always that person who is most important to her, and she always seems, through all her smiles and hopes and optimism, to still be dreaming of that man who took her heart with him when he died without his daughter even knowing his name.

[Prompt because snapple posted it on the wrong post]

Lin hadn't realized she'd fallen in love when she had. her heart had been cold and hard and it wasn't until she had agreed to marry Bing that she realized she loved him. There was so much about the world she hated, but it was surprising how just one person could make her smile, and feel as though the world wasn't such a bitter place.

It was in his memory she turned from being a destroyer of humanity to trying to save it. Because while they were both fighting for the side of the Earth... She somehow knew, he may have just been there because she'd needed him. And she'd lost him to that fight, so she didn't want to fight it anymore. She wanted to stand against everything she'd thought was the way of doing things, and so she did. In her grief, and in his honor.

She hated labels. Boyfriend, Girlfriend, fuck-buddy, life-partner, whatever. Haruka never liked them. It either meant she had to start considering herself tied to this particular person, which made her restless, or she had to keep watching them for behavior she'd find in herself.

Every boyfriend Haruka had ever had, she hadn't wanted them to be her boyfriend. It had gradually become the 'Boyfriend Show' and she was never the one to first introduce them as that. There was the 'This is my girlfriend' and instantly that became what she was, and she loathed it. Because then she was the label, and felt like it was stamped on her forehead, in bright red letters. Then she had to start calling him her boyfriend, otherwise he'd get upset, and if the sex was good or the conversation wasn't bad when there wasn't shit about labels and love, she didn't want him upset.

It always ended because she got sick of the label, and shed it for a night, did something she probably shouldn't have, or maybe nothing at all. Maybe he proposed to her, and she just wasn't interested.

Sooner or later, all the guys who called themselves the boyfriend of Haruka Ishida left because she wasn't the type of girl that you wanted to be committed to, because she could only commit as long as she was interested.

Hayden is the first person whose interested her long enough for her to maybe want to call him her boyfriend. Not that she ever would, because thinks are already complicated without adding the superficial labels in.
